Psychic Self-Defense

Psychic self-defense involves techniques to protect yourself from annoying spirits, psychic perceptions that are unpleasant such as sensing the emotions of other people (empathy), and any type of psychic attack from a living person or disembodied entity. I have discussed various methods of psychic self-defense previously in my blog and website. This post provides an overview and links to other posts on my blog and website with more information.

In this post, and in the linked articles, prayer is recommended. Some people may feel uncomfortable with prayer if they have not had a religious upbringing. However if you are going to endeavor into spiritual phenomena you must learn to use the tools of spirituality or you will limit your ability to accomplish your purpose. If you feel uncomfortable praying, do it anyway. Also, when you say a prayer or an affirmation, repeat it a few times if necessary to firmly establish it in your mind. Don't just rush through it without thinking.

  • Anytime you feel you need protection, visualize an impenetrable barrier of white light completely surrounding you and also repeat this affirmation (source: John Edward):
I surround myself with the white light of divine love and protection.
In this situation you can also use the prayer for protection:
Oh God, please watch over me and protect me so that only the highest and best forces can influence me.

  • If unwanted spirits are causing problems see: What to do about Unwanted Spirit Contact: How to Help Spirits Complete Their Transition to the Spirit World. There is also a section on how to deal with unwanted spirit contact in How to Cope with Being Psychic which may be helpful even if you are not aware of having psychic abilities.

  • If you feel there is negative energy in a room or location, visualize it filled with white light.

  • Before you do any type of spiritual practice such as spiritual healing, communicating with spirits, or any type of psychic development meditation, start with the prayer for protection:
Oh God, please watch over me and protect me so that only the highest and best forces can influence me.

  • If you have psychic abilities or you are developing psychic abilities see this: How to Cope with Being Psychic

  • If you are experiencing the emotions of other people (empathy), there is also a section on how to cope with that here: How to Cope with Being Psychic

  • Before doing any type of spirit communication please read A Word of Warning section in A Natural Method for Learning To Communicate with Spirits and Further Adventures of a Student Medium: The Dark Side, both of which are on my website.

If you find yourself confronted with a situation that you cannot handle yourself, you can try working with a therapist who specializes in spiritual issues or a medium who does spirit rescue.

Practical Uses of ESP: Joe McMoneagle on How to Become a Psychic Detective

There are many practical uses of ESP including mediumship, dowsing, energy healing, remote viewing, induced after-death communication (a treatment for post traumatic stress disorder), past life hypnotic regression, and psychic detectives.

The use of psychic detectives is more prevalent than is generally known because most law enforcement agencies will not admit they use psychic detectives and they are not willing to work with psychics who talk about being a psychic detective. Joseph McMoneagle, one of the worlds greatest psychics and military remoteviewer, discusses psychic detectives on in is blog post: Do you tell anyone?.

If you think you are that good and the information is that good, you pick up a phone and call someone at your local FBI Regional Headquarters and give them your name. You tell them you are a psychic [don't try and explain remote viewing, they don't care about it] and you have information you feel is important. Then you give them the information. They take it and put it all in the “Nut-bag File.” If it comes true, they will show up at your door and you will be seriously interviewed and asked where you were and what you were doing when it occurred. I hope you have a great alibi for where you were when it happened.

Now, you keep doing that, until you’ve established a track record that contains more accurate information than inaccurate information, at which point they will then take you out of the “Nut-bag File” and give you a confidential informant number, and may actually accept your phone calls. However, and this is critically important you hear this because I will only say this one time. If you tell anyone you are working for the Government or the FBI, and they find out you said that, you will go permanently into the “Nut-bag File” and they will never speak to you again. The rule is; if you talk about their business, they will have no business to do with you. And that is the same with every law enforcement agency I’ve ever had any knowledge of.

Practical Uses of ESP: Dowsing

There are many practical uses of ESP including mediumship, dowsing, energy healing, remote viewing, induced after-death communication (a treatment for post traumatic stress disorder), past life hypnotic regression, and psychic detectives.

Here is an example of what a talented dowser can do. The dowser is Harold McCoy and the description is quoted from Extraordinary Knowing by Elizabeth Lloyd Mayer, Ph.D.

In December of 1991, my daughter's harp was stolen; we got it back. But it came back in a way that irrevocably changed my familiar world of science and rational thinking. It changed the way I go about living in that world. It changed the way I perceive the world and try to make sense out of it.

...

My eleven-year-old daughter, Meg, who'd fallen in love with the harp at age six, had begun performing. She wasn't playing a classical pedal harp but a smaller, extremely valuable instrument built and carved by a master harp maker. After a Christmas concert, her harp was stolen from the theater where she was playing. For two months we went through every conceivable channel trying to locate it: the police, instrument dealers across the country, the American Harp Society newsletters—even a CBS TV news story. Nothing worked.

Finally a wise and devoted friend told me, "If you really want that harp back, you should be willing to try anything. Try calling a dowser." The only thing I knew about dowsers were that they were that strange breed who locate underground water with forked sticks. But according to my friend, the "really good" dowsers can locate not just water but lost objects as well.

Finding lost objects with forked sticks? Well, nothing was happening on the police front, and my daughter, spoiled by several years of playing an extraordinary instrument, had found the series of commercial harps we'd rented simply unplayable. So, half-embarrassed but desperate, I decided to take my friend's dare. I asked her if she could locate a really good dowser—the best, I said. She promptly called the American Society of Dowsers and came back with the phone number of the society's current president: Harold McCoy, in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

I called him that day. Harold picked up the phone—friendly cheerful, heavy Arkansas accent. I told him I'd heard he could dowse for lost objects and that I'd had a valuable harp stolen in Oakland, California. Could he help locate it?

"Give me a second," he said. "I'll tell you if it's still in Oakland." He paused, then: "Well, it's still there. Send me a street map of Oakland and I'll locate that harp for you." Skeptical—but what, after all, did I have to lose?—I promptly overnighted him a map.

Two days later, he called back. "Well, I got that harp located," he said. "It's in the second house on the right on D----- Street, just off L----- Avenue."

I'd never heard of either street. But I did like the sound of the man's voice—whoever he was. And I don't like backing down on a dare. Why not drive to the house he'd identified? At least I'd get the address. I looked on an Oakland map and found the neighborhood. It was miles from anywhere I'd ever been. I got in my car, drove into Oakland, located the house, wrote down the number, called the police, and told them I'd gotten a tip that the harp might be at that house. Not good enough for a search warrant, they said. They were going to close the case—there was no way this unique, portable, and highly marketable item hadn't already been sold; it was gone forever.

But I found I couldn't quite let it go. Was it the dare? Was it my admiration for the friend who'd instigated the whole thing? Was it my devastated daughter? Or was it just that I had genuinely liked the sound of that voice on the other end of the line?

I decided to post flyers in a two-block area around the house, offering a reward for the harp's return. It was a crazy idea, but why not? I put up flyers in those two blocks, and only those two blocks. I was embarrassed enough about what I was doing to tell just a couple of close friends about it.

Three days later, my phone rang. A man's voice told me he'd seen a flyer outside his house describing a stolen harp. He said it was exactly the harp his next-door neighbor had recently obtained and showed him. He wouldn't give me his name or number, but offered to get the harp returned to me. And two weeks later, after a series of circuitous telephone calls, he told me to meet a teenage boy at 10:00 P.M., in the rear parking lot of an all-night Safeway. I arrived to find a young man loitering in the lot. He looked at me, and said, "The harp?" I nodded. Within minutes, the harp was in the back of my station wagon and I drove off.

Twenty-five minutes later, as I turned into my driveway, I had the thought, This changes everything.

The Harm Caused by Pseudoskepticism

This post provides explanations and links to supporting information that show how pseudoskepticism does great harm to individuals and to society.

Introduction

Pseudoskepticism is harmful because pseudoskeptics are responsible for spreading incorrect information denying the existence of ESP and the afterlife. In reality, there is overwhelming evidence that ESP and the afterlife are genuine. Preventing people from knowing about ESP and the afterlife does great harm to individuals and society as a whole.

Belief in religion and the afterlife eases grief and fear of death. It deters suicide, and helps people cope with adversity such as unemployment and divorce. People who find meaning in life are healthier, but pseudoskeptics espouse materialism which says that life is meaningless.

Pseudoskeptics obscure the truth of psychic phenomena and this creates difficulties for people who have psychic abilities. Without accurate information about psychic phenomena, people experiencing those phenomena may become afraid or confused, they may think they are going crazy or are evil. They may be persecuted by people who don't believe in any paranormal phenomena. Psychic children may be punished by their parents or teachers who think they are lying. Psychics may be misdiagnosed as mentally ill and given mind-numbing drugs they don't need or they may be institutionalized.

Denying the truth about ESP and the afterlife does great harm to society and civilization. It prevents governments from licensing psychics and accrediting schools that teach psychic development. This directly abets charlatans who pretend to be psychic. Pseudoskepticism inhibits scientific freedom. There are many practical uses of psychic abilities including mediumship, dowsing, energy healing, remote viewing, induced after-death communication (a treatment for post traumatic stress disorder), past life regression, and psychic detectives. By denying the reality of ESP and the afterlife, pseudoskepticism may deter people from availing themselves of these helpful services.

If the evolution of the soul was correctly understood it would prevent ethnic and religious conflicts. If more people understood the life review and reincarnation there would be less cruelty in the world because people would understand that when you harm another person you also harm yourself. If the truth of the afterlife was more widely known, people would be less selfish because they would understand how their actions in this life prepare the conditions they will experience in the afterlife. A correct understanding of the afterlife would help people to understand the purpose of life and suffering. A correct understanding of the afterlife gives people certain knowledge of a better existence in the future. No matter what mistakes someone may have made in life they are never judged or punished in the afterlife but always have the opportunity here or hereafter to atone and work their way up to the highest levels of the spirit realm by helping others.

I want to be clear that I am not saying all pseudoskeptics are bad people. I developed my sense of ethics when I was a materialist atheist which is better for me now than if I did what was right only because I was afraid of punishment in the afterlife. So, I believe there are some lessons best learned as a materialist atheist. People should believe what they think is right, but materialist atheists should not try to spread beliefs that may be harmful to other people and they should not be deceptive about the evidence for ESP and the afterlife.

How Pseudoskepticism is Harmful

  • People need correct information in order to be able to make good decisions about what to do in life. Anytime false information is spread, it is harmful. Pseudoskeptics are mistaken when they espouse disbelief of every paranormal phenomena. There is overwhelming evidence for ESP and the afterlife. The world's most brilliant scientists including many Nobel prize winners believed in paranormal phenomena from their own studies, their own experiences, or the studies conducted by other scientists. Magicians cannot reproduce mediumistic phenomena. Pseudoskeptics are often deliberately misleading. Real skeptics (people who believe something only when there is good reason to believe it) do believe in some paranormal phenomena because of the evidence.

  • Belief in religion and the afterlife offers many benefits. Pseudoskepticism may prevent people from experiencing these benefits.

    • Belief in religion can help people cope with adversity such as divorce and unemployment.

    • Knowledge of the afterlife:

    • People who find meaning in life are healthier but pseudoskeptics espouse materialism which holds that meaning is an illusion.

  • By denying the reality of psychic phenomena, pseudoskepticism makes it harder for people to find reliable information on psychic phenomena. As a result of pseudoskepticism:

  • There are many practical uses of psychic abilities including mediumship, dowsing, energy healing, remote viewing, induced after-death communication (IADC), past life regression, and psychic detectives. By denying the reality of the afterlife, pseudoskepticism may deter people from availing themselves of these services. (Induced after-death communication is a treatment for post-traumatic stress syndrome developed by a veterans administration psychologist. Past-life regression is an immensely helpful treatment for some psychological disorders.)

  • Pseudoskeptics persecute psychics and scientists who want to study paranormal phenomena which inhibits scientific freedom.

  • Pseudoskeptics do harm because they obscure the truth of the afterlife.

    • If the truth about the evolution of the soul was more widely known, it would reduce ethnic and religious conflicts.

    • If the truth of the afterlife was more widely known, people would be less selfish because they would understand how their actions in this life prepare the conditions they will experience in the afterlife.

    • A correct understanding of the afterlife would help people to understand the purpose of life and suffering.

    • If the truth about the life review and reincarnation was more widely known, it would reduce cruelty because people would understand that when you hurt another person you are also hurting yourself.

    • A correct understanding of the afterlife eases mental anguish because certain knowledge of a better existence in the future gives people hope. No matter what mistakes someone may have made in life they are never judged or punished in the afterlife but always have the opportunity here or hereafter to atone and work their way up to the highest levels of the spirit realm by helping others.

  • Skepticism, The Big Lie. Activist Skeptics and Atheists are a Danger to the Health and Well Being of Believers describes research that shows belief in religion and the paranormal contributes in many ways to the health and well being of people. Such beliefs ease grief, ease fear of death, deter suicide, and help people cope with all sorts of adversity in life such as divorce or unemployment. Pseudoskepticism which incorrectly denies such beliefs, may prevent some people from experiencing all those benefits.
Many people come to a Spiritualist church for the first time when they are suffering from grief because mediumship is part of the Sunday service. Some of these people are suffering from extreme grief from the death of a spouse or a child. Losing a child is one of the most difficult of all things to have to experience in life. During church services, I've seen and heard with my own senses the comfort and relief that a communication from a deceased loved one can give to another person.

Imagine a child conceived in love, who you carried in pregnancy, gave birth to, fed from your own breast, and raised from infancy. Who you taught to walk and talk and took to their first day of school and had birthday parties for. Who you loved and who loved you and trusted you completely in their innocent childlike way. Imagine your hopes and dreams for their future. Now, imagine their life is cut short, maybe by a sudden accident or a lingering illness. Actually, you can't imagine the grief and sense of loss a parent would feel in that situation. Now try to imagine what it is like for that parent to know that their child's existence has not been cut short but that their child is living with Grandma in another plane of existence, and they can still know about each other and communicate words of love.

I've been there during Spiritualist church services and seen and heard a medium provide this comfort to people suffering from extreme grief. I knew the medium, I knew the church, I know it wasn't cold reading or hot reading and I know the information the medium gave to identify the spirit was specific, detailed, and impossible to guess by chance.

So I also know the harm that can be done by skeptics who never had this experience and who don't know what they are talking about when they try to convince someone else that it is all a delusion or a fraud.

  • What Kind of People are Pseudoskeptics? Part II discusses some the problems encountered by people who have psychic experiences. Because of pseudoskepticism people may be afraid to talk about their psychic experiences, they may be ridiculed or considered evil by others. They might not understand what is happening to them and they may fear they have a mental illness because pseudoskepticism makes it hard to find reliable information on paranormal and psychic phenomena.
... read this post by a new member of another forum:
    Hi,

    My name is -----,

I found out a year ago that my daughter and I have psychic abilities. I am so happy to have found this forum. It is very isolating (and shame producing) when you are seeing, hearing, smelling, and feeling things that other people don't seem to. I am just glad that my daughter, who is 11, has similar experiences.

I am coming to terms with these abilities, although I cried for many months, was angry, terrified and angry at God because I have always felt different from other people to begin with.I was extremely sensitive.

How many tens of thousands of people go through this needless anguish because the truth of ESP has been prevented from being accepted by all sectors of society?

  • What Kind of People are Pseudoskeptics? Part V includes examples of how pseudoskeptics inhibit scientific freedom by persecuting people interested in paranormal phenomena.
In this excerpt from A Conversation with Dr. Raymond Moody by Sharon Barbell, Raymond Moody tells how his own family committed him to a mental hospital because of his research into the afterlife.
SB: Have you encountered any resistance to this research from colleagues, friends or relatives?

RM: That has been so funny. One thing is that my family had me put into a mental hospital about it, and I suppose you can call that a form of resistance (laughter). And so it was a really funny situation. And of course the people at my college thought that I had lost my mind.

    ...

The next example shows how pseudoskeptics will persecute and ostracize a Nobel prize winning physicist like Brian Josephson for being interested in paranormal phenomena. If they persecute a Nobel prize winner, what chance does an ordinary scientist have of expressing or pursuing a similar interest?

From How to Run a Conference at Brian Josephson's web site.

Certain invitees to a workshop on the Foundations of Physics received from the organisers letters withdrawing their invitations. The letter to Brian Josephson asserted:
"It has come to my attention that one of your principal research interests is the paranormal ... in my view, it would not be appropriate for someone with such research interests to attend a scientific conference."

    ...

Richard Sternberg explains how he was persecuted for authorizing the publication an article on Intelligent Design that had passed peer-review in a journal he edited.

Because Dr. Meyer's article presented scientific evidence for intelligent design in biology, I faced retaliation, defamation, harassment, and a hostile work environment at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History that was designed to force me out as a Research Associate there. These actions were taken by federal government employees acting in concert with an outside advocacy group, the National Center for Science Education. Efforts were also made to get me fired from my job as a staff scientist at the National Center for Biotechnology Information.

    ...

... when the psychic medium George Anderson was a teenager, he was bullied at school and punished by his teachers because of his psychic abilities. His parents took him to a psychiatrist because they didn't understand what was happening to their son. George was diagnosed with schizophrenia and put on Librium and then Valium which caused him to sleep up to 20 hours a day. The psychiatrist told his parents to take him to a state run mental institution. At the institution one psychiatrist recommended electro-shock treatments. A second psychiatrist disagreed and was in fact alarmed at the prospect of institutionalizing a child in an adult facility because he would probably be raped by other inmates. Due to the actions of the second psychiatrist, George was spared institutionalization although he was kept on mind-numbing drugs.

  • Charlatans, Demagogues, and Scientists explains how pseudoskepticism actually enables charlatans who pretend to be psychic because it pushes paranormal phenomena into the fringes which makes it harder for people to get reliable information about psychic phenomena, and prevents government from licensing psychics the way plumbers and doctors are licensed.
The charlatans who pretend to be psychic are small time operators. Compared to the scientific scam they haven't influenced society significantly. But the scientific scam is also partly responsible for the harm done by these charlatans who pretend to be psychic. Because scientists dissuade people from believing in psychic phenomena, they prevent the government from developing a licensing process for psychics like there is for doctors, lawyers, plumbers, and electricians. By pushing the psychic industry out of the mainstream and into the shadows, they make it harder for people to get reliable information on the industry. By calling everyone a fraud they obscure the fact that psychics are genuine and the charlatans are only pretending to psychic.

If scientists had allowed themselves to take up the study of psychic phenomena such as mediumship the way Nobel prize winning scientists such as Charles Richet, Pierre Curie, and Marie Currie, and many other scientists such as Sir William Crookes, wanted to, much harm would have been avoided.

  • Materialism: Meaning is an illusion. Science: People need meaning to thrive tells of research that shows that people who have meaning in their life are healthier. Materialism which incorrectly holds that meaning is an illusion may cause some people to feel life is meaningless and they might be less healthy because of it.
A new article in theatlantic.com provides more evidence of this. The article explains new research which shows that having meaning in life is good for your health. In that case, materialism may be harmful to some people because according to materialism, meaning is an illusion. Some people might find it hard to have meaning in life if they believe materialism is true and that meaning in life is an illusion. The research also showed that that happiness comes from selfish taking, meaning comes from selfless giving, and that meaning is healthier than happiness.

  • The Science Scam explains why pseudoskepticism causes suffering all around the world. The correct understanding of the afterlife which has been corroborated by near-death experiencers and mediums, would help to end ethnic and religious conflicts as well as cruelty and selfishness.
The science scam is one of the greatest hoaxes ever perpetrated in the history of humankind and it has done incalculable harm to individuals and to our civilization. This hoax has been carried out by scientists who deny the true nature of human consciousness revealed by the existence of ESP and the afterlife and it has been going on since at least the 1860's.

How many billions of people suffer unnecessary grief for lost loved ones who are not really dead but are continuing their existence in another dimension? How many billions of people live in fear of death unnecessarily because they are ignorant of the empirical evidence showing there is an afterlife? How many people suffer unnecessarily from ethnic and religious conflicts that would cease if everyone knew the true nature of the soul and its evolution? How much cruelty continues to be inflicted on victims that would never be inflicted if people understood that when you hurt another person you also hurt yourself? How much selfishness continues to exist that would cease if people understood that you prepare the conditions you will experience in the afterlife by the actions you take in the physical life?

All this suffering continues to occur because some scientists refuse to give up their self-appointed role as the sole source of knowledge about the universe and their artificial and unscientific attachment to philosophical naturalism as the only way to obtain knowledge about the cosmos. This leads them to reject the many independent forms of evidence for ESP and the afterlife which show that human consciousness is not produced by matter, not produced by the brain, but can and does continue to exist after the death of the physical body.

The Purpose of Life: Incarnation and Reincarnation and Suffering

Someone on an internet discussion forum recently asked about the purpose of life and why there is so much suffering in the world. Here is how I answered....

We are here on the earth plane for spiritual development. "Spiritual development" means becoming fit for a higher level in the spirit world. That means developing character traits that make us more loving, tolerant, forgiving, and also more persevering, cooperative, and wise.

In the afterlife, you can pursue many of the same interests you had in life such as music or art. There are also entertainments and subjects to study. We study our previous life and prepare for our next life. But eternity is a long time and after a handful of incarnations on the earth plane, we move on to other challenges. What are the tasks we attribute to God? Creation of the universe, creation of life on earth, responding to prayers. In our future, we will be doing similar tasks as agents of God. In order to do them well, we will need to be loving, forgiving, tolerant, persevering, cooperative, and wise. We incarnate to develop traits and learn lessons that we will need to do the work of advanced spirits.

Sometimes a spirit will incarnate to help another spirit learn a lesson. That might mean being a victim or victimizing another person. Everyone needs to experience all sides. You need to experience being a nasty person yourself to understand why someone might harm another person. This will enable you to forgive people who harm you because you will understand why they do what they do from your own experience doing nasty things. You also need to experience being harmed so you can understand why it is wrong to harm other people. If you know what it feels like to be harmed, you will not want to inflict harm on anyone else. Also, it will make you more sympathetic to people who are suffering and you will want to help them.

One of the most important lessons we learn is that helping others leads to joy and happiness. In order to learn this lesson, there have to be people who need your help. In order for others to learn this lesson, you need to be in a situation where you can be helped by other people. This is another reason lives are full of difficulties: so we can learn to help each other.

Sometimes learning does not occur until after death during the life review when you experience how you influenced other people from their perspective. The memories of the life review will be like your own memories. The joy you caused will be like a memory of joy you experienced. Suffering you caused will be like a memory of suffering you experienced. If you haven't learned it during life, then from the life review you will learn that doing good is desirable and doing harm is not desirable, that we are all one, that when you harm another you harm yourself, when you help another you bring joy to yourself.

You should not judge other people because you can't tell, by how a person acts or what happens to them, what a person's reason for incarnating is. Wealth doesn't mean anything. A new soul might be attracted to material things, an old soul might not be materialistic. However an old soul might need wealth to accomplish a higher purpose of changing society. Or, an old soul may be be serving the poor in some out of the way, unseen, thankless job. A successful businessman might be a new soul who wants to experience wealth. Or, he might be an old soul who wants to help our civilization develop a higher standard of living. But he also might have depression or have been abused as a child and may hate his life. You can't tell from outward appearances the spiritual nature and purpose of another person's life.

Rewards for good actions might come in the current lifetime or in the afterlife. You prepare the conditions you will experience in the afterlife by what you do in this life. From a spirit's point of view, the rewards in this life have very little value compared to the possible rewards in the afterlife. The positive character traits you develop in this life will stay with your throughout eternity. They are their own reward.

Before a spirit is born he plans the outlines of his life. The plan is made in consultation with advanced spirits. So whether some action will lead to adverse consequences in the afterlife depends on what the plan was and why that plan was made. If someone has a life plan and he agrees to harm another person so that person can learn why harming people is wrong, there would not be any adverse consequences of those actions.

Saying someone is "punished" in the afterlife is not correct. There is no vindictive punishment. The life review and reincarnation are done for learning not punishment. People experience the natural consequences of their actions. Good actions have good consequences, bad actions have bad consequences. Where you go in the spirit world, to a nice place or a not so nice place, is determined more by natural law, like gravity, than by judgment. There is no purgatory where souls are sentenced to specific punishments for certain crimes. You have learning experiences: the life review, reincarnation, levels in the spirit world where similar souls interact with each other. Anyone at any time anywhere here or hereafter, can decide to change their ways and start working their way up to the higher levels by trying to help others.

A nasty person, who doesn't recognize hurting other people is wrong, who won't "get with the program" and start helping other people in order to earn his way to the higher levels in the spirit world, may finds himself, after death, in a lower sphere with other nasty souls doing nasty things to each other, as is reported in hellish near-death experiences. That is not the same as God ordaining a specific punishment for a specific misdeed. It is simply putting similar souls together in the hope they learn from their experiences. The purpose of the suffering that occurs when such souls are allowed to harm each other is to help them in their spiritual development. Sometimes a particularly nasty, aggressive, cruel, arrogant spirit needs to learn humility and why it is better for us to help each other rather than harm each other and that we should act together for mutual benefit rather than act individually in pursuit of selfish goals. This understanding can come from the suffering that people observe happening during hellish near-death experiences. Sometimes it takes great suffering to lose pride, arrogance, and hate, and truly desire assistance, to do what is necessary to let go of egotistical attachment to the belief in individual power and self-sufficiency - to recognize the necessity of, and ask for, assistance from a higher power. Such souls have to recognize that they alone are not all-powerful, they need the good will of others to have a pleasant existence. For some souls, this realization will only be made after great suffering.

Sasquatch are people: Sasquatch Genome Project

DALLAS, Feb. 13–The multidisciplinary team of scientists, who on November 24, 2012 announced the results of their five-year long study of DNA samples from a novel hominin species, commonly known as “Bigfoot” or “Sasquatch,” publishes their peer-reviewed findings today in the DeNovo Journal of Science (http://www.denovojournal.com). The study, which sequenced three whole Sasquatch nuclear genomes, shows that the legendary Sasquatch is extant in North America and is a human relative that arose approximately 13,000 years ago and is hypothesized to be a hybrid cross of modern Homo sapiens with a novel primate species. A species name, Homo sapiens cognatus, has been applied for through ZooBank. “Cognatus,” from the Latin “con” (with) and “natus” (born), means “blood relative.”

      Q&A

The Sasquatch are an indigenous, aboriginal people. Their maternal lineage is human and their paternal lineage is an unknown hominin. Their genetics reveal no relation to homo Neanderthalensis (Neanderthal) or homo sapiens Altai (Denisova). Despite their often reported ape-like features, they have no genetic connection to apes. This means they are not related to the Pleistocene pongid, gigantopithecus blacki, believed by many in the Bigfoot research community to be a likely ancestor. More research is needed to further understand Sasquatch genetics.

The paternal lineage found in the nuclear DNA of Sasquatch suggests a distantly related hominin that evolved separately from humans, apes and other primates but evolved to the point where it could interbred with humans.

      ...

Most of the potential DNA samples submitted were hair. All hair samples and were examined by a specialist who weeded out hair from humans, known animal species and synthetic fibers. Hair classified as unknown then underwent testing on its mitochondrial DNA. If the mitochondrial DNA on the unknown hair was human, the hair was identified as Sasquatch. Testing on the nuclear DNA came up as an unknown hominid.

Blood, tissue and saliva samples could not be screened in this manner, and went straight into DNA testing. The tests produced consistent results that identified the species.

      ...

The project’s samples were found in numerous ways. Most samples were hair, found on trees, fences, hair traps, in sleeping areas and even on a garage door. One sample submitter found an apparently very popular scratching post tree, based on the numerous hairs left behind. Some blood was obtained from objects apparently involved in incidents leading to Sasquatch being injured.

      ...

Provenance is not a concern with the DNA itself because DNA cannot be faked, and forensic scientists are experts at dealing with genetic material that has been exposed to the elements. Contamination was managed per established routines commonly used in criminal cases, for example. Samples that were not viable were not included in the study. Human contamination would have resulted in human nuclear DNA, which did not happen.

      ...

Forensic scientists routinely deal with DNA in criminal cases that has been exposed to the elements, sometimes for many years. Forensic scientists have developed procedures for samples containing DNA from multiple sources, or which have a small amount of DNA.

      ...

Long-term witnesses have reported that they are not interested in living our way of life and prefer living closer to nature. Sasquatch seem very intelligent despite their primitive lifestyle. After all, it would take human-like intelligence to avoid humans and our technologies for so long. According to some long-term witnesses, they not only possess spoken language, but written language, as well. At least two language studies are underway. Cultural and physical anthropologists need to devote attention to the Sasquatch, as there is much to learn about their culture and lifestyle.

      ...

A habituator is someone who has nurtured a long-term relationship with Sasquatch either on their property or in a research area. This relationship is called habituation.
      ...

Sasquatch talk. For years, Bigfoot researchers have reported “samurai chatter,” whispering and other vocalizations. The testimony of Native Americans, habituators and long-term witnesses that Sasquatch can speak English as well as other languages. However, linguistic research indicates that Sasquatch speak at a much faster rate than we do, making them very difficult to understand. Some long-term witnesses are able to easily understand them because of years of interaction. The North American Bigfoot Search Web site contains some details about ongoing Sasquatch linguistic research. And a book about Sasquatch language and culture is being prepared by a professor of anthropology at The University of Virginia.

High Ranking Government and Military Officials Say UFOs are Extraterrestrial Craft Visiting the Earth

High ranking government and military officials have said that UFOs are extraterrestrial craft visiting the earth.

      • Paul Hellyer Minister of Defense for Canada believes four species of aliens have been visiting the earth for thousands of years.
      • Admiral Hellenkoetter Director CIA: "These UFOs are interplanetary devices systematically observing the earth..."
      • Lord Hill-Norton, Chief of Defense Staff, Ministry of Defense, Great Britain: "The evidence that there are objects which have been seen in our atmosphere, and even on terra firma, that cannot be accounted for either as man-made objects or as any physical force or effect known to our scientists seems to me to be overwhelming…"
      • President Harry S. Truman: "I can assure you that flying saucers, given that they exist, are not constructed by any power on earth."
      • Air Chief Marshal Lord Dowding, Commander-in-Chief of RAF Fighter Command: "... [UFOs] are not manufactured by any nation on earth. I can therefore see no alternative to accepting the theory that they come from some extraterrestrial source."
      • Nick Pope, British Ministry of Defense: "... intelligent extraterrestrial[s] are visiting Earth."
      • H. Marshall Chadwell CIA Director of Scientific Intelligence: "Sightings of unexplained objects at great altitudes and traveling at high speeds in the vicinity of major U.S. defense installations are of such nature that they are not attributable to natural phenomena or known types of aerial vehicles."
      • A report in the FBI archives vault.fbi.gov reports that a US Air Force investigator stated in 1950 that three flying saucers had been recovered. They were 50 feet in diameter with raised centers and each was occupied by three human shaped bodies each approximately 3 feet tall.

... in the 1960s, a flotilla of UFO's headed south into NATO territory, and the Commander in Chief of the Supreme Allied Orders(SHAPE) in Europe was naturally very shaken. Fortunately, or maybe Divine Providence, before the panic button was pushed, the flotilla turned around and headed back north. Obviously, they thought maybe they were Russian, and they were very concerned about it. The investigation was launched into this whole subject, and a document was prepared which concluded that at least four species had been visiting earth for 1000s of years, and this is my own view at this stage as well.

On August 22, 1960, Hillenkoetter said:

"I am aware that hundreds of military and airline pilots, airport personnel, astronomers, missile trackers and other competent observers have reported sightings . . . These UFOs are interplanetary devices systematically observing the earth, either manned or under remote control, or both."

“It is time for the truth to be brought out... Behind the scenes high-ranking Air Force officers are soberly concerned about the UFOs. But through official secrecy and ridicule, many citizens are led to believe the unknown flying objects are nonsense. I urge immediate Congressional action to reduce the dangers from secrecy about unidentified flying objects.

”The evidence that there are objects which have been seen in our atmosphere, and even on terra firma, that cannot be accounted for either as man-made objects or as any physical force or effect known to our scientists seems to me to be overwhelming… A very large number of sightings have been vouched for by persons whose credentials seem to me unimpeachable. It is striking that so many have been trained observers, such as police officers and airline or military pilots. Their observations have in many instances—though by no means a majority—been supported by technical means such as radar or, even more convincingly, by visible evidence of the condition of the observers or –and this is common to many events---interference with electrical apparatus of one sort or another…. It is difficult to credit that they have all been either lying or hallucinating.

From the earliest days of the modern outbreak of sightings some forty years ago, there is a quite remarkable similarity between the descriptions given by observers of the flying vehicles. It is the more remarkable that there have been tens of thousands of these reports, from observers who range who range from illiterate peasants in Argentina and Spain to people with Ph.D.s in other countries and they have all been given spontaneously—which has led to the generic term “flying saucer.” It must be more than a coincidence….

“There have been thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of sightings and encounters, physical results and of the latter, by people all over the world whose evidence on any other subject would be accepted without question. There have been major investigations lasting thirty or forty years by the governments of the USA, Russia and France, for certain, and probably Britain and other countries. At the end of it all—today—we have no hard official information to weigh against some hundreds of books on the subject by private individuals or groups of individuals.”

I am convinced that these objects do exist and that they are not manufactured by any nation on earth. Nick Pope, British Ministry of Defense

“On the basis of my official research and investigation into UFO sightings and reports of alien contact, I am personally convinced that intelligent extraterrestrial are visiting Earth. I say this on the basis of the data available to me at the Ministry of Defense, both in terms of the historic records and the several hundred new cases that I investigated each year.

…There was a hard core of cases that defied any conventional explanation and involved craft capable of speeds and maneuvers beyond the capabilities of our own technology. I was particularly interested in UFO sightings that could be correlated by radar and in reports where the witnesses were military personnel; such cases were directly responsible for my gradual conversion from skeptic to believer.”

General De Brouwer, Deputy Chief, Royal Belgian Air Force Filer's Files #33 2013

My name is Wilfried De Brouwer. I am a retired Major General of the Belgian Air Force and I was Chief Operations in the Air Staff when an exceptional UFO wave took place over Belgium. Indeed, during the evening of 29 November 1989, in Eastern Belgium, 140 UFO sightings were reported. Hundreds of people saw a majestic triangular craft with a span of approximately 120 feet, powerful beaming spot lights, moving very slowly without making any significant noise but, in several cases, accelerating to very high speeds.

The following days and months, many more sightings would follow. The UFO wave would last more than one year during which a Belgian UFO organization conducted more than 650 investigations and recorded more than 400 hours of audio witness reports. On one occasion, a photograph revealed the triangular shape and four light beams of the object.

In my function of Chief Operations, I was confronted with numerous questions about the origin and nature of these craft. In the first instance, and in consultation with other NATO partners, 1 could confirm that no flights of stealth aircraft or any other experimental aircraft look place in the airspace of Belgium. In addition, the Civil Aviation Authorities confirmed that no flight plans had been introduced and the object(s) committed infractions against the existing aviation rules.

The Belgian Air Force tried to identify the alleged intruder(s) and, on three occasions, launched F 16 aircraft. On one occasion, two F 16 registered rapid changes in speed and altitude which were well outside of the performance envelope of existing aircraft. In short, the Belgian UFO wave was exceptional and the Air Force could not identify the nature, origin and intentions of the phenomena.

      To: Director, FBI
      Date: March 22, 1950
      From: Guy Hottel, SAC, Washington
      Subject: Flying Saucers, Information Concerning

An investigator for the Air Forces stated that three so-called flying saucers had been recovered in New Mexico. They were described as being circular in shape with raised centers, approximately 50 feet in diameter. Each one was occupied by three bodies of human shape but only 3 feet tall, dressed in metallic cloth of a very fine texture. Each body was bandaged in a manner similar to the blackout suits used by speed flyers and test pilots.

According to Mr. ..... informant, the saucer were found in New Mexico due to the fact that the Government has a very high-powered radar set-up in that area and it is believed the radar interferes with the controlling mechanism of the saucers.

No further evaluation was attempted by SA ... concerning the above.

Why Pseudoskeptics Are So Committed to the Information War Against Paranormal Phenomena

In an internet discussion forum, someone asked what drives pseudoskeptics to wage an information war against paranormal phenomena. I replied by quoting from several different post I had made to the same discussion forum in other threads. Below are slightly edited versions of those posts:

The information war is important to pseudoskeptics because they are ideologically driven materialists. Consider the case of Dr. Eben Alexander M.D. If a neurosurgeon says he changed his mind and now knows consciousness is not produced by the brain and that God exists, because he experienced the afterlife during a near-death experience. And from his knowledge of the way the brain is wired he knows the brain could not produce that experience. Then the materialist's religion crumbles to the ground. It calls into question their creation myth, Darwinism. If God exists, there is a good candidate for an intelligent designer of life. Supporting a nonphysical consciousness would be a selective pressure on the evolution of the brain that is not part of the natural environment. If the afterlife is real, then consciousness is not produced by the brain, and conscious human beings could not have evolved naturally. It makes belief in God reasonable. It proves the scientists and materialists, have been hoaxing the entire world for the last 150 years at least, by denying the several independent forms of empirical evidence for ESP and the afterlife. When the afterlife is accepted by all sectors of society, those who perpetrated this hoax who claimed to be smarter than everyone else are going to look like the biggest fools and villains the world has ever known outside of a genocidal government. They cannot allow the truth to become accepted. It would mean religion was right and Science was wrong.

Another reason pseudoskeptics can't allow paranormal phenomena to exist is that it would threaten their position at the top of the evolutionary tree since they might be considered a genetically inferior evolutionary dead end compared to people who have psychic experiences.

Are materialists dodos afraid of extinction?

But if you are a materialist, if you don't believe in the afterlife or reincarnation, then the fact of ESP forces you to confront the possibility that you are a member of an inferior species that might go extinct. Evolution is important to materialists because it is part of their creation myth. Faced with the reality of psychic phenomena, faced with the possibility that they are an evolutionary dead end, it would create a existential crisis of epic proportions. It would shake their faith that they are rational, intellectual, supermen and instead suggest that they are like the dodo, which was doomed to extinction because of stupidity. It would suggest materialists are inferior to people with psychic abilities, particularly since psychic ability seems to run in families and thus probably has a genetic and therefore (according to materialist belief) an evolutionary basis. The existence of ESP threatens materialists' most sacred faith about their origins and their place in the universe.

Pathological skepticism is a backlash against organized religion.

The Pathology of Organised Skepticism, L. David Leiter, Journal of Scientific Exploration (Vol.16 No.1, 2002)

The theme that has emerged time after time, as I become closely acquainted with individual PhACT members is this: Each one who has disclosed personal details of their formative years, say up until their early 20’s, has had an unfortunate experience with a faith-based philosophy, most often a conventional major religion.

Very often, their family or community has (almost forcibly) imposed this philosophy on them from a very early age; but then as they matured, they threw off this philosophy with a vengeance, vowing at a soul level never to be so victimized again.

Pseudoskeptics are on a crusade against organized religion. It blinds them to the empirical evidence for the afterlife because that evidence would dissolve their raison d'ĂȘtre leaving their existence in actuality as meaningless as their materialism paints it. They may not realize they are being irrational since they lack critical thinking skills because their reasoning ability has been stunted by church logic. It is why they say there is no evidence for any paranormal phenomena. It is not that they just can't believe the evidence, they cannot allow it to exist so they fight the evidence by all possible means because of the existential threat it represents to their worldview.

According to the book The Sociopath Next Door most sociopaths are atheists. So the ranks of pseudoskeptics probably have a higher percentage of sociopaths than the general population, particularly among the leaders of the movement who set the standards for their followers. This might explain why pseudoskeptics do what they do.

How to Determine if Someone Is a Sociopath: 7 Steps

      ...

Sociopaths have delusions of grandeur, and oftentimes feel overly entitled to certain positions, people, and things. They believe that their own beliefs and opinions are the absolute authority, and disregard the opinions of others.

      ...

Sociopaths are professional liars. They fabricate stories and make outlandish, untruthful statements, but are able to make these lies sound convincing with their confidence and assertiveness.

      ...

Because sociopaths are such dominant leaders, they are usually able to attract a following of some kind. These people tend to be weaker, more passive individuals who have been intoxicated by the sociopath's charm.

      ...

Sociopaths are incapable of experiencing guilt or shame for their actions.[9] They rarely apologize for their behavior, and are unaware of the emotional, physical, and financial repercussions of their actions. As a result, they betray, threaten, and harm those around them without feeling any type of remorse.

Sociopaths are manipulative. They constantly try to influence and dominate the people around them, and tend to seek positions of leadership.

Sociopaths are incapable of experiencing love, and likely will not have had healthy romantic relationships in the past.[10] They are only concerned with their own interests, and use compassion as a tool to manipulate others, but are not genuinely compassionate.

They are afraid of being embarrassed when the truth comes out.

Mainstream science has been saying unambiguously, emphatically, and repeated that alternatives to materialism are false and that the empirical evidence against materialism is invalid for far longer than a hundred years.

When it becomes generally accepted throughout all sectors of society that this denial of the truth is the greatest scam in history, deliberately perpetrated on humanity, Science will be disgraced beyond any possibility of recovering its reputation. It will have to live in a future of infamy lesser only to that of governments guilty of genocide.

What could be more important to humanity than the knowledge that the afterlife is real? What could be more important to science than huge gaps in its understanding of the universe revealed by the empirical evidence for ESP and the afterlife? By clinging to the false religion of Materialism despite several independent forms of overwhelming, extraordinary, empirical evidence to the contrary, Science has betrayed humanity and itself, by neglecting its duty to Truth.

Imagine what the world will be like when it is a generally accepted scientific fact that human consciousness survives death, and that everyone will have to experience in a life review or future incarnation the harm they have inflicted on others during their life. The world will be an incalculably better place because it will be an established scientific fact that when you harm another person you are harming yourself. How much pain and suffering could have been avoided if materialism had not been advocated so strongly by scientists? How different the world will be when everyone knows that there is an afterlife waiting for us after death where the atmosphere is permeated with love and all souls are aware of their interconnectedness and brotherhood.

The shame and guilt that is the due of Science is so great that those who have adopted Scientism as their religion, those materialists whom the blame will fall upon, will do whatever is necessary, consciously or unconsciously, to prevent the truth that materialism is false from becoming accepted through all sectors of society.
