The Prision of Reductionism

I've added another reason some people become skeptics to the Skeptical Fallacies page on my web site:

Research
has shown that people who think analytically rather than intuitively tend to be atheists. People who analyze problems using logic, because of their education, career, or innate characteristics, may become
habituated to reductionist analysis. Reductionism is the belief that something complex can be understood by the interaction of simpler components. This way of thinking works well in many branches of science. Psychology can be explained in terms of biology, which can be explained in terms of chemistry, which can be explained in terms of physics. However, some scientists, engineers, philosophers, and other intellectuals, may become so habituated to reductionist thinking that they are unable to conceive that some phenomena cannot be explained in terms of simpler phenomena. For example, the subjective experience of consciousness, what pain feels like, or what red looks like, cannot be understood through reductionism. Psychic phenomena that cannot be explained by current scientific theories, such as telepathy, clairvoyance, psychokinesis, and precognition cannot be understood through reductionism. This is why some people who are habituated to reductionist thinking simply cannot conceive that psychic phenomena could be real or consciousness might be nonphysical and survive bodily death. Reductionists suggest consciousness is an epiphenomenon even though that is a poor explanation of consciousness because it is the best they can conceive of within their reductionist prison.

Wolfgang Pauli winner Nobel Prize in Physics: Psychokinesis is real, I can do it.

Wolfgang Pauli, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1945, was one of the pioneers of quantum physics. He believed in psychokinesis - that a person could influence material objects by means unknown to mainstream science. He believed he manifested this power by damaging experimental equipment. This phenomenon was called the Pauli Effect. Pauli also believed in synchronicity and that parapsychology was not pseudo-science but worthy of study. He believed that some psychic contents survive personal ego and can effect other living people.

Keeping a Dream Log as a Means of Having Psychic Experiences

Keeping a dream log can help you to have psychic experiences. To keep a dream log, write down any dreams you can remember as soon as you wake up from sleep. In the book An Experiment With Time by J. W. Dunne the author suggests that asking yourself "what was I thinking about and why" as soon as you wake up will help you to remember your dreams. His book describes how he became aware that he had many precognitive dreams once he started keeping a dream log. It may also help you to remember your dreams if you suggest to yourself, as you are falling asleep, that you will remember your dreams.

Many people have experienced precognition, communicating with sprits, being aware of remote locations and other psychic experiences during dreams. Andrew Paquette in his book Dreamer has described some additional types of psychic experiences many times in his dreams.

The types of psychic experiences people report having during dreams include:

  • Spirit Communication
  • Precognition
  • A spirit guide gives them spiritual teachings.
  • Helping an earth bound spirit.
  • Giving spiritual healing to someone in need of healing.
  • The dreamer may experience what is happening at a remote location and when he wakes up he may be able to verify those things happened.
Keeping a dream log may also be useful in psychic development because it helps you to develop the ability to be conscious of faint mental impressions (half forgotten dreams) which otherwise would be unconscious. This ability may lead to more psychic experiences when you are awake because anything that helps you to develop the ability to bring unconscious mental activity into consciousness may help to increase the frequency with which you have psychic experiences.
